Since I know graduate students here are molded enough knowledge that’s why they are successful nowadays .They produce a competitive students.

Though this university is a public university and only public school in our city. And this university doesn’t have enough facilities but then they mold us to meet our capability in this passion.

We are an IT student ,we should be facilitate well with enough technology. But then equipments here are not enough for all student .I just remember the machine problem we have done. For many times, hardware are not enough, some are un useful . So there is reason it would bring home.. But these things doesn’t affect us much as long as we are responsible to things on class discussion. We are in the country that doesn’t have enough budgets. It begins with yourself.

The implementation of not using laptops on the university to save energy is really bad to every IT/CS student because we used it for our learning. University doesn’t have enough equipment , how could they stop us. I hope it is analyze by everyone because school has the big impact of the learnings of every student .

When I meet my job someday and apply my knowledge I’ve learn with this university ill never forget what university I came from. I’m really proud on my university though it doesn’t comply the needs of student.

When you're not using your computer, you can save energy by putting it to "sleep." When your computer is in sleep, it's turned on but in a low power mode. It takes less time for a computer to wake up from sleep than it does for the computer to start up after being turned off.

You can put your computer to sleep right away by choosing Apple menu > Sleep. You can also choose to put the computer to sleep automatically when your computer has been inactive for a specified amount of time. You can also set only the display to sleep. If your computer is in the middle of a task that you want to let finish while you are away (for example, burning a DVD), you should set only the display to sleep.

University can adopt this Concept:

It can help the university in conserving energy . It can lessen the energy consumption . But then if you finished using the computer, you should shut down the computer instead leaving it all behind

MY EXPERIENCED

→ At exactly1:00 pm last July 2,2009 we had our COMDDAP 2009 we had our Apo View Hotel where we had encounter and seen great technologies nowadays and gained some knowledge from seminars of the company that we had attended.
→But before that I just want to say that we became one of delegates of successful COMDDAP 2009 in Davao , we had register on online .Thank God we registered though some of my classmates were unregistered since they followed instruction but they solved it already and joined us on the seminars.

→We arrived past 1:00pm which actually a Pilipino time habit .As we got COMDDAP sticker as our ID we suddenly filled up a form, it receptionist came and thought “Student mu? sulod na mu dli na para sa inyu!!!” .It was embarrassing we thought it is giveaway prizes .We walk inside with half feeling ..hehe

→We tour every booth of the companies , we
discovered hardware appropriate for a business ,upgrade technologies, and even cell phone blogs. We have seen big system unit, storage system ,servers for managing business , software for protection .It is an amazing experience that soon I will meet that kind of technology as I enter the IT profession as I graduate.

→ For all those things I really appreciate the NetApp S550system .It is a complete storage system for storage generalists and remote /branches office .It is because I and my colleagues were curious to the hardware. What is it for ? What are the 12 disk for? And what is the contribution of that hardware for the business? I finally knew what it is when I met this kind of storage on the company I interviewed the EMCOR company .They used it for the storage of every documentation of business transaction.
→ While enjoying looking of new gadgets , I noticed that they were gone . I was worried because I don’t know the location venue of the seminars . While looking for them I thankful I seen my classmates who are newly arrived. I joined them and we went to reserved room f
or seminars.

→ We had seminar for dealer Management System, Hp Thin Client, Open Source Software, Microsoft Retail Management.

→There we had learned some open source software, which we can adopt software for making a web design or source of making program.

→We witnessed also the debate about automated election, that I really enjoyed. That really proven that IT people were concerned of the system should be secured for the success of the election and it should planned well what system they produce. I found out that there is differences among those who are promoting a open source and the other
one that has license of their software which they sale.

→We have also witnessed the new hardware of HP company the “Thin Client” .It is so amazing system unit. IT has features that other System Unit doesn’t have. But it is expensive but useful and comfortable.

→ Im so happy cause I’m one of the lucky student on that seminar .I won HP t-shirt and 2 gigabyte of USB on answering HP company’s question: What is not component of Thin Client?. Well it is really amazing , a advance gift for my birthday. Can you imagine? Oh my!! .But now I felt disappointment !why? My old USB gone the day after I received my new one. It is really true that ”Pagsunuwerte ka kasunod dun ay kamalasan”. But it is ok at least I have one already.

At exactly 3:30 pm last July 04,2009 we have interviewed the supervisor of Hardware Network /Security Group Engr. Irvin Miclat since the ICT director is on business transaction outside the city.

As we interviewed him he clarified that they don’t treat IT/IS change is a risk but a “challenge” to their company. He shared to us that every time IS/IT change before you adopt that changes they should have a business plan where they analyze the cause and effect possibilities in decision making.

When there is IT/IS change their company they planned of adopting for enhancement of the services of the company .He site an example that the company had experienced.

For the past years they don’t maintain the product price so the retailer can manipulate price for their customer .They could corrupt their client and even cheat in their salary invoice. In short, they is no systematic pricing .For them to comply their needs they adopt the MMS (Merchandise Management System) where the can handle

The following:
• Vendor management
• Price management
• Promotion management
• Financial control
• Merchandise receiving, allocation and replenishment
• Inventory control and procurement

They planned for the possibilities which could enhance the improvement of the company .Infact thay planned of online purchasing. But they have also site a issues that such as a connectivity problem. NCCC is on the way for developing there IS/IT for the better services

The possible risk of IT /IS changes are the following:

  • Budget
  • Training
  • Compatibilities issues
  • Company issues

Operating System:

  • They use open source software such Open office
  • They do not limit an OS
  • Open to use other possible OS as long as it has advantage in the business.
  • They are standardized
  • If old OS support ends they planned possibility of transferring into upgrade one.

Security

  • They use UFM for the defense of unnecessary virus
  • Possible of adopting other upgrade firewall in maintenance the security

Role of ICT Department

  • Implement job order
  • Message coordinator
  • Automated controlled price over the company
  • Document events
  • Security

Here are some possibleRisk of IT/IS change base on the net.

Impact of information systems on organizations and markets

The adoption of information technology (IT) in organizations has been growing at a rapid pace. The use of the technology has evolved from the automation of structured processes to systems that are truly revolutionary in that they introduce change into fundamental business procedures. Indeed, it is believed that "More than being helped by computers, companies will live by them, shaping strategy and structure to fit new information technology [25]." While the importance of the relationship between information technology and organizational change is evidenced by the considerable literature on the subject, 1 there is a lack of comprehensive analysis of these issues from the economic perspective. The aim of this article is to develop an economic understanding of how information systems affect some key measures of organization structure

Managing risk during information technology change

With new technology as one of the key drivers to maintaining competitive advantage and sustained success in the insurance sector, change is one of the few constants within the sector. Any change, especially fast-paced change creates risk – on a technical as well as operational level. Risk that needs to be recognised, evaluated and managed if insurance organisations and their customers are to benefit, rather than suffer, from change, says Chris Thornton, director of Finance Sector Business Development at ITNET, an information technology, business consulting and business process outsourcing company.
